Medieval Fantasy Swords - The Middle Ages
|
Often modeled after actual historical swords of the
medieval times, they are often more intricate, detailed and quite gaudy.
The fantasy swords of today usually depict the future. Modeled after the
medieval times, they depict the fantasies of the future and what the sword
may evolve into. The fantasy sword is often a fusion of technology and
steel. A weapon that can carry the warrior to battle and often be the
marginal difference between defeat or victory.
Celebrated fantasy sword artists include Kit Rae and United Cutlery. Their
line of modern fantasy swords and Medieval Depictions of swords age past
have garnered many awards and praises. Many of today's movies depict
swords that are fantasy in design mixing the old and new, the medieval and
the future. The Lord of the Rings have spawned an entire series of swords.
Other movies with a following of sword collectors include, Blade, The
Mummy Returns, Knights Tale, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon & Gladiator.
The quality and quantity of fantasy swords available for viewing and
collecting appears endless. A few will remain collector's items for
decades to come. Others will have become just a piece of pretty metal.
